 Spain MADRID

Neptune Fountain is a round-about on the Paseo de la Castellana.  This is a view from  the central bus stop behind the bus shelter wall  in the shade.  It is really hot in Madrid in the summer.  You always have to find the shade.

This small plein air watercolor of The Monument to the Fallen Angel is one of the paintings within a series of fountains located in the Retiro Park in Madrid, Spain. The statue, El Angel Caido was made by Ricardo Bellver in 1877.  In 1885 it was placed in the Glorieta del Angel Caido in the Retiro Park. Everyone says that it is the only monument in the world which is dedicated to Lucifer.  Curiously enough, the official topographic altitude of this monument is 666 meters above sea level from Alicante, Spain.

The Temple of Debod is an ancient building constructed in the early 2nd century BC dedicated to the goddess Isis. This is one of the few works of ancient Egyptian architecture that can be seen outside Egypt and one of its kind in Spain. It is located in the Parque del Oeste in Madrid, Spain. It was donated to Spain in 1968 by Egypt as a sign of gratitude for the help provided by Spain in saving the temples of Abu Simbel. Temples which were going to be lost forever due to the construction of the Great Dam of built across the Nile River.
