Arco de los Cuchilleros

Arco de los Cuchilleros (The knifemakers’ arch) is an architectural icon in Madrid, Spain. The high arch over the stone staircase is very dramatic looking so visitors come from all over to see it. The arch and staircase came about from the necesity of solving a huge elevation difference between the street below and the plaza above. Arco de los Cuchilleros is one of ten enterances to the Plaza Mayor and the most beautiful.

It’s fun sitting at the restaurant on the right side of the stairs as the evening rolls in.

Thank you for reading my little story.
